TPO’ed Trees (Tree preservation order)
These are trees that have been deemed to have significant value. A whole area can be under a TPO or just singular trees, usually ones that are very old, very large or both. Putting TPOs on trees protects them from any works being done to them without the correct permissions being granted by the local tree officer.
